Ruthie Chapman Rocks It

the color of popsicles.

Sitting pretty in red and bisque

So soothing in periwinkle and white.

Never Having to Say You're Sorry

Bathroom of the week

I love this bathroom to pieces. Look at that mondo drawer for hair dryer, curling iron, and all other manner of getting ready stuff. Slam, bam, goes the drawer shut, never having to say you're sorry about not cleaning up the bathroom counters again. The storage solution speaks to the basket lady in me and will you look at the reflection in the mirror - natural light coming from a window in the bathroom!!
How beautiful is this bathroom or what?
Found at Hooked on Houses. Enjoy.

Fall is Here and it is Spectacular

Relax, Breathe, Prepare to Rest

I don't know why I love
Fall so much; love it so
much more than Spring.
The long, sharp shadows
of the sun, criss-crossing
over saturated colors in the
fading summer foliage, a
winding down of sorts, a
mellowing, a preparation
to rest, a big....whew....'it's
been a good day' and I
need to Relax, Breathe
and Prepare to Rest.

Pergola of the week

Be still, my heart.

Pergola of the week

Be still, my heart.

Reflective, Steel, Gnarly - Oh my!

Let me deconstruct this for you.

Mirrored back wall in which tall steel
open style book shelves  are placed around a window.

Throw in a round tree table
(always superb in corners),
which happens to be made of bronze and paired with a couple of 19th-century
teak scholar's chairs

Slap one fragment of a

New Kingdom Egyptian stele, (an upright stone slab or pillar bearing an inscription or design and serving as a monument, marker, or the like),
on top of a stand and presto, it's done.

Unexpected use of vintage kimono fabrics

This table is so cute, I can't stand it.

Clever Japanese design
uses

 vintage kimono fabric

that has been laminated and
 put atop varnished

  steel.

An American Classic Revamped

Remember those captain's chairs
many of us had growing up
 with all those spindles?

This is not it.

The story behind this Windsor chair design
is Here
Yankee spirit is alive and well
between Canada and Botswana.
